The value of Christian resources is often underestimated by the average believer. We give place to secular patterns of thinking because of a lack of the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2). Great resources compliment the power of scripture by way of expansive application. They speak to our hearts and feed our spirits.
When I read a phenominal book, listen to a powerful CD message, or hear awesome Christian music, something deep happens. Suddenly I am connected to the best of the body of Christ and I am no longer alone. My struggle has context because it is displayed and explained in another person. In a way, Godly resources provide a world wide connectivity with the church.
My encouragement to you is to widen your perspective and increase your appetite. Become urgently hungry to grow and to be mentored...resources open up the possibilities of who gets to participate in your process. Nothing is a replacement for human contact, but God has blessed us with other ways to grow.
Throughout Christian history believers in remote settings grew because God provided writings from afar. These compliment the scripture and united them with brothers and sisters they may have never met. Modern forms of communication have increased the potential of the format of communication. My advise is to take advantage o the gifts that are readily available to most believers.
